Budget review ELF Brightening Eye color in Brownstone
Some time ago I told you about the ELF products I ordered and as always I try to do a review of most of the products I purchase and this one can't be left out... The last weeks I've been using it on a regular base, let's have a look!!
Luxuriously smooth, corn silk formula provides eyes with a neutral base and an awakened brightness. The formula blends into skin for a long lasting, beautiful effect. The 4 color quad allows for both natural and dramatic looks. Mirror in compact included.
The packaging is cheap: plastic, an applicator that shouldn't be used and a mirror in compact that isn't worthy of the name mirror. But these tiny things aren't important, considering this only costs 1euro. What matters here are the eyeshadows. I chose the quad 'Brownstone', ELF offers a lot of different colours but this one was most to my "nude likings". The triangleshapes are cute, but not that functional because they're small and there's only just enough room for your brush. For the price you get 4 colours with which you can build a soft or more dramatic smokey look.
The eyeshadows have quite the amount of pigmentation - especially the two dark ones - and are easily picked up by the brush. The two darker shades however have a lot of fallout so be aware. All the colours have a tiny bit of shimmer in them in the packaging but when applied, the shimmer is only visible in the peachy lightest colour. The second brownier 'taupe' colour appears more satinlike and has the least pigment of them all. The two darker colours are quite matte. All the colours blend easily and when applied on a good eyeshadow base they last almost an entire day.
The goods: price, lovely colours, good pigmentation
The bads: cheap packaging, triangleshape can be annoying, fallout
Overall this is a very good product considering its price: you get 4 usable colours. If I compare this to Catrice, Maybelline... the quality is in the same range. The good pigmentation is definitely the biggest pro in this quad. If you're looking for a cheap and a bit of decent eyeshadow palette, check out the ones from ELF.
