Beauty ponders

We are descendants of very hairy people, back in those prehistoric days people had hair all over, with purpose of warmth and dirtpreventing and such... As the climate began to change, so did our hair and it minimized but still occured on several necessary places as it does today... But, us girls, we do not like all this hair - legs, armpits, lip, etc- we like to have it gone. I also live in this 'gone' department. And then we come to my eyebrows, who obviously are prehistoric in some way. If I don't do anything about them I look bewildered, they become very thick...

When I was in highschool I used to use my mothers tweezers (just a random no brand thing) but it was quite difficult to use and I occasionaly had a little wound from trying to tweeze too hard - not grabbing the hair but my skin. Later on I bought somewhat the same tweezer for myself and went on with the hard tweezing until 2 years ago... I had been reading a lot on blogs and decided I wanted to invest in a Tweezerman Slant Tweezer, normal version, but at that time they weren't available in my country so I had to buy them online. I quickly found them and chose a colour, sky. A week later, the Tweezer was mine and I was so impressed with it, tweezing became so much easier. It grabs almost every hair, doesn't leave wounds and works so precise - just love it!


It isn't cheap, its only downside, I paid 20$ and ordered from Strawberrynet, buying them in a store in Europe is more expensive though (Belgium - IciParis, around 20euros). They also offer a wide range of similar products, depending on your brows needs. On a side note, they also offer a special service: free sharpening. If you feel your tweezers ends are in for a treat you can fill in a form, post it along with your tweezer and they sharpen it for free and sent it back to you. Something really special, I'm certainly going to try it, but for now my Tweezer still looks like new!

I've had mine for 2 years now and it's still in good condition, it's worth investing in it. The price may frighten you, I felt the same way, but I'm glad a took the risk. I cannot live without mine anymore...

Today just a quick post, but also an important one. Regarding skin care items I'm a huge fan of pumps and tubes (jars are so unhygienic and such), but mostly tubes because they offer the best value for money. When I was little my mum always said to me that after having used a tube it's best to cut it because there still was a lot of product in it. Initially I didn't believe her but after seeing so for myself I adapted and have been doing the same, if I like the product.

With scissors and a spatula, here's how I do it: I usually cut the tube in 3 parts because it's easier to reach and get the product out of it. I take a tiny jar that closes well enough and put the product in it. I've used my Avon Eye Cream 15ml for this article and let's have a look at how much product was left behind - it was impossible to get it out of it while the tube was whole, I tried shaking, squeezing, it was empty -but not empty enough:

This amount of product gives me about 1 or 2 more weeks usage out of this tube, I don't mind using my scissors for that you know. The larger the tube, the more product gets left behind. It's worth cutting it girls...

Beauty magazines: once in a while I buy them so I have reading material during breakfast time. Couple of days ago I had such a breakfast and read a remarkable tip that I want to share...


Normally you use shampoo, then conditioner/mask, rinse deep and done! Even though a conditioner and/or mask is great for your hair, it comes with the downside that it weighs your hair down. Lately I've been getting this a lot and it's bugging me, I like my hair to be 'big'. Not using conditioner/mask isn't an option, the horror my hair becomes then. In the magazine they advised to do this in reverse: mask/conditioner and then shampoo. They claim it will have the same effect without weighing your hair down...


Worth a shot, doesn't cost a penny so yesterday I pampered my hair in reverse. And I must say, it has more volume to it than usual. Only tiny downside, it's not as soft as usual. Hope this has a continuous effect to it!

Unwanted facial hair... yes some of us have it and absolutely loathe it. I'm a member of this group, my upperlip has a mixture of tiny white and black hairs that I like to have gone. Normally I use a tweezer but it's an aggrivating job and I tend to get enough of it fast.

When I read about this product, my spring it, I was a bit sceptical, but as I'm always open to new beauty stuff I ordered it (http://myspringit.com/)... Arrived pretty fast and nicely packed. My boyfriend had no clue what this product was meant to do, as no one would I guess.

Using it is very easy, you have to bend it in a u-shape and swirl it up and down. It requires a bit of exercise in the beginning but you quickly get the hang of it, there's a tutorial video on their website, have a look at it. Now, I've also read it wasn't supposed to hurt that much. But oh my gosh, first time using it, it hurted a lot -damn liars-, I have sensitive skin. Just think of the effect of a tweezer but way worse. Luckily it lessens the more often you use it. I like the fact that it removes a lot of hair in one swirl, it goes a lot faster and is really easy to do. I'm happy with my purchase!
