Review L'Oréal Voluminous Carbon Black Mascara

I'm a fan of mascara. If I had to chose one make-up item to owe for the rest of my life, this one would probably be THE one. If you don't have time for eyeshadow, a bit of mascara can do wonders to your face. So I'm always keen on trying new ones, I already have found a favourite in my Maybelline one but maybe I can find an even better one. There's always that little voice in me screaming to try more... Familiar with this, I'm sure you are?! Hence the reason I bought this mascara for a few dollars online to give it a go!

L'Oreal presents Carbon Black Voluminous Volume Building Mascara. L'Oreal's Carbon Black Voluminous is uniquely formulated to resist clumping, soften lashes, and build lashes to 4X their natural thickness! Unique maximizing formula quickly thickens and builds lashes in a single application for a full and dramatic lash look. Patented Volume Maximizing Brush thickens lashes evenly and smoothly leaving them soft with virtually no flakes, smudges or clumps. Voluminous, formulated with Panthenol and Ceramide-R, protects and conditions lashes leaving them supple and soft to the touch, resisting clumping and flaking. Ophthalmologist and allergy tested. Suitable for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers. Clump-Resistant. Fragrance-Free.

Packaging is nice and quite chic with the black and gold, L'Oreal surely wants to look luxurious with this mascara. The brush itself is very basic, nothing special about it.

Then, onto the application and results. The mascara applies easily but is very tricky. It clumps and cloggs like there's no tomorrow. Only when I apply it very carefully it comes out more or less ok. I also experience some fallout with this mascara, especially when used on the lower lashes. The mascara gives me a sufficient amount of length and some thickening but not the volume I expected from their promises. Also their promise to not clump hasn't been fullfilled!

The goods: luxuriouslike packaging, price, result is ok

The bads: clumps, cloggs, fallout, application is difficult

Summing it up: I wouldn't buy this mascara again and wouldn't recommend it to anyone because of the application. I know a lot of people love this mascara and I've tried it for several weeks but I'm not feeling it at all... There are better mascaras out there for the same amount of money.

Tested L'Oreal Lash Renewal Serum

A couple of weeks ago I told you here I would be testing the lash serum from L'Oreal. I also stated I didn't have high expectations. And now it's time for the results!

In the box it looks like a regular mascara by L'Oreal. Here's the products description: L’Oréal’s Renewal Lash Serum enriched with Arginine and Centella for a nourishing lash boost. Lashes feel fortified, look renewed. Clinically tested.

Opening it you see the weird applicator, formed like a lash curler. It is also soft and bendable, positive. They advise you to use it mornings as well as evenings and in 2ways: firstly with the tip go over the lash line and then sweep the brush along your lashes like a mascare.

I've mainly used it in the evening and sometimes in the morning if I could stay in. It takes a while for the product to dry on your lashes and makes them stick together a bit. So if you want to apply mascare after it, not a good idea. Using it is very easy, like their description, and the product doesn't irritate my eyes at all (I wear contacts so again a plus for L'Oreal).

Onto the most important fact, my lashes (click on the picture for a close-up, it's more visible then)!

before - after

Excuse my different lighting, no sun today! When comparing the pictures (bare lashes, no mascara, no curler) you clearly see I've grown more lashes in both corners of my eye. They've also gotten thicker, I'm not sure whether they're longer - maybe a bit. Not visible but telling anyway, they have developed some shine, which is very lovely. Effects are supposed to be optimal after 8 weeks of usage.

I've been using it for 5-6 weeks now, daily (sometimes twice a day) and this is how much I've used. The product doesn't get wasted and you don't need much, it will last a long time for sure.

Now, is this worth the purchase? To me: yes! Don't expect miracles, but it will improve your lashes. I like what it's done to mine, with curler and mascara on they almost look like fake ones. Pricetag is around 15euros but because it will last a long time this is neglectable to me. I say go off and buy it, you've got nothing to lose!

Testing: L'Oreal Renewal Lash Serum

In "testing" I'll keep you up to date on which long-term products I'm testing and whether their promises come true or not... so you know if it's worth purchasing!

In my opinion lashes are important in any look, they make your eyes pop and light your face up. They complete your make-up and so on. My lashes are normal, not too short but not long either. They could use a healthier look, hence this purchase. In the past I tried Revitalash for several months, this wasn't a big hit so I want to be realistic with this one and not expect too much of the product.

The product costs about 16euro and is available in several warehouses. It promises to deliver longer, fuller and stronger lashes within 1 month. This is possible because of the Provitamine B5 and Prokeratine, both are supposed to encourage your lashes to grow. They advise using it in the morning and evening.

I'll be starting the use this evening and will post the first impressions, comparison pictures after a few weeks, fingers crossed...
